Dick Delicious and the Tasty
Testicles
- Elbow Room: Friday, December 1
Dick Delicious and the Tasty Testicles bring their unique (or perhaps not so unique) brand of “porn heavy metal” in support of their latest CD, 1999’s We Sold Our Souls for Wet Sloppy Holes (Reality Records). The Atlanta-based outfit has kicked around the South since the early ‘90s, spreading mirth and good cheer with such toe-tapping tunes as “All Cops Are Dicks,” “Diarrhea,” “Beef Curtains” and “Thick Cheezy Discharge.”
The band likes to tout itself as a sexually-oriented GWAR (wait, don’t the Impotent Sea Snakes already have that market covered?) and typically take to the stage stripped to the waist wearing ski masks. Meanwhile, the band’s music is more of a mix of speed metal, punk and rap than the “porn heavy metal” tag would lead one to believe.
DDTT’s Columbia connection is drummer Cary Sulton, formerly of Hand Over Fist, who joined the band in mid-October. Given their Spinal Tap-esque penchant for going through drummers like 13-year-old boys go through Kleenex, however, it’s unknown whether or not Sulton is still with the band. The band’s website (which, due to some fairly graphic and grotesque content, you’ll have to find on your own) declares that DDTT is “more disgusting than Ron Jeremy’s back,” and if you need an explanation, this band probably won’t be your cup of tea.
